In a world where access to safe, sustainable energy is no longer a luxury but a necessity, the Akpoyibo Green Foundation, is leading the charge to create a brighter future for every child. Through the one - child, one solar reading lamp campaigne policy, we are transforming lives and unlocking potential by replacing hazardous kerosene lamps and candles with clean, renewable solar reading lamps.
Just two days later, on the 7th of December 2024, the campaign extended its reach to the AEI Asteven Energy Institute in Asese, welcoming students from four distinguished schools: Oakfield Group of Schools Asese, Blessed Group of Schools Asese, Heritage Schools Asese, Walex International Schools Asese.
At both events, the Akpoyibo Green Foundation distributed hundreds of solar reading lamps, each one a beacon of hope for children striving to learn and grow in a safe, illuminated environment. These lamps are a lifeline for children, providing them with: clean reliable light to study and excel academically even after sunset, protection from harmful fumes that kerosene lanterns and candles release thus safeguarding their health and well-being, and a brighter, greener future, as solar energy reduces carbon emissions and nurtures our planet. The events were more than a distribution eort they were a celebration of love, community, and the unyielding belief that every child deserves a chance to shine.
Every solar lamp distributed is a step closer to ending energy poverty. But we can’t do it alone. The Akpoyibo Green Foundation is calling on individuals, communities, and organizations to join us in saying no to kerosene lamps and candles and yes to clean energy for every child. Together, we can light up classrooms, homes, and futures. Together, we can give every child the tools they need to succeed. Let’s save a child. Let’s end energy poverty. Let's illuminate lives one solar lamp at a time.
